CHALLENGE

FIRST was tasked with creating a festival style block party for AOL as the setting for their NewFront in the South Street Seaport District in New York City.

APPROACH

FIRST teams wanted to create an entertaining and memorable experience for attendees. Billed as “AOL Access,” the NewFront put AOL’s open-platform model in action and gave the 3,000+ attendees experiential access to their brands.

HIGHLIGHTS

With a festival-style feel, FIRST successfully created a block party for the NewFront. The event featured a drone obstacle course and multiple VR experiences, a book signing, celebrity meet and greets, along with 13 immersive activations across AOL brands including Huffington Post, Tech Crunch and partner brands including Autoblog and The NFL. 

Performances by Years and Years, Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Demi Lovato kept the attendees dancing throughout the event. Additionally, all of the content from the show was streamed via the Verizon go90 app.
