SENIOR EVENT TECHNICIAN - LONDON
WHAT YOU WOULD GET TO DO:
In this capacity, the ideal candidate would represent the FIRST brand as an implanted team member for a well-known technology company. The Senior Event Technician will be responsible for leading the technical production for mid-level events requiring support with Audio/Video, staging, lighting and design needs. The role requires strong technical understanding and practical experience operating event production systems, with extensive experience in A/V and technical direction for both corporate events and live experiential events.
For events, the goal is to provide a seamless technology experience to all attendees, press and partners, as well as create a more efficient and reliable technical environment for event staff and vendors. In this role you will work with internal teams as well as external clients and vendor partners on a daily basis.
YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Lead the technical production of high-profile, technically complex events and assist in the hands-on delivery of all events.
- Acts as the main technical point of contact for clients once the project has been assigned.
- Manages the technical elements of the project.
- Take over all responsibility for the effective management and delivery of the event from a Technical perspective.
- Provide technical solutions and support to the wider team and assist in the hands-on delivery of events .
- Operate event production equipment including but not limited to audio desk, lighting desk, vision mixer and PTZ camera controller.
- Work with client teams and stakeholders who use a ticketing system to coordinate events.
- Provide full event production support as part of a team for larger events.
- Manage the day-to-day housekeeping and maintenance of a hi-tech event venue.
- Work with clients/stakeholders who might not be technically minded in pre-production to explain the capabilities of the space and go over best practice to ensure the event is a success.
- Basic editing of video footage to provide clients with recordings of their event.
- Work with the event production team to provide feedback on possible enhancements and improvements to the space.
- Manage client expectations on the production of event delivery.
- Liaise across different levels within the immediate team, the client’s organisation, and third-party vendors.
- Work closely with Planners and Producers to establish A/V and staging layouts as well as budgets for events.
- Oversee building of staging and A/V set up on-site.
- Participate in creative team brainstorming sessions.
- Identify new and alternative ways of approaching FIRST’s technical production offering to clients.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Extensive experience within the technical event production/broadcast environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required.
- Expert/in-depth understanding of audio visual technology and advancements including lighting, audio/video output, rigging and power.
- High level of proficiency in the technical delivery of high-quality events.
- Video output experience with strong technical understanding of systems.
- Experience operating event production systems.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must to build and maintain relationships.
- Ability to prioritise while adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience managing day-to-day changes at every level of detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once with varying levels of production.
- Knowledge and ability to use PTZ cameras and controllers.
- Knowledge of Live Streaming in various encoding platforms.
- Experience working with the following equipment/tools is required: Yamaha CLseries desks; Final Cut ProX; Keynote; Google G-Suite; ETC Ion lighting desk; ROSS Carbonite consoles.
- Ability to draft and present technical reports in English.
- Ability to read building schematics and installation diagrams in order to troubleshoot.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Understanding of different audio and video protocols and codecs.
ADMINISTRATION & GENERAL:
- Assume responsibility for your own environment, ensuring adherence to health and safety policies while having clean smart surroundings.
- Work intelligently and ensure that team management is aware of problems or issues which negatively affect productivity.
- Build excellent relations with the team, clients, vendors, and key venues through positive communications.
- Ensure knowledge is shared within the team to enable them to work smarter.
- Work on ad hoc requests as required, typically during quiet times.
