FIRST London Helps Local Charity Achieve Its Goals

The team at FIRST London this month demonstrated their continued commitment to making time for charitable support by helping Bede House, a local South East London charity.

FIRST London started working with Bede House in January 2016 and has been in partnership with them for the past year to help support their projects and provide the time and money they require to help better the lives of local people in the South East London community. This is done in conjunction with Meeting Needs, a partner charity within the events industry, which also donated a large grant to Bede House.

In 2016 the London team organized a number of events to support Bede House including a rounders game in Hyde Park, two team members running the Royal Parks Half Marathon, event management workshops for youth leaders, and CV and Interview tutorials for adults with learning disabilities.

The money raised contributed to evening youth clubs, two weeks of half-term activities, workshops around bullying and healthy living, art lessons to help children design and produce t-shirts, and much more.

Fokrul Meah, Head of Bede Youth Project said “FIRST’s enthusiasm for helping Bede has been extraordinary, from helping out at fetes and community fun days to introducing us to Meeting Needs.  The support has allowed us to reach over 80 young people and allowed them to experience things they would never normally be able to try. To appoint us charity of the year again is amazing – thank you!”
