Univision Upfront Wins Bronze For Event Marketer Experience Design & Tech Awards

The editors of Event Marketer recently presented the 2019 Experience Design & Technology Awards, and FIRST and Univision Communications, Inc. have been recognized with a Bronze Award for Best Stage Experience for the 2019 Univision Upfront. The award honors the best use of design, social media and event technology to enhance live experiences, and Event Marketer received hundreds of entries spanning the 19 categories.

Univision is the nation’s leading media company serving Hispanic America. The purpose of the Univision Upfront presentation is to introduce media buyers and marketers to Univision’s portfolio of television networks, upcoming season of content, and power of their viewing audience, to ultimately secure ad buys. Univision wanted to ditch the traditional upfront presentation in favor of a more immersive experience at a museum-like event space in Manhattan.

To support their vision, FIRST designed a multi-room/multi-floor experience that featured powerful presentations with immersive set design and AV as the centerpiece, complemented by several interactive experiences highlighting Univision’s diverse brands and offerings. The event took place at Center 415 in NYC, a uniquely configured canvas with multiple spaces and floors, where FIRST designed an attendee flow with surprises around every corner. To build upon last year’s experiential-style Upfront, we delivered a cycle of presentations and interactive experiences for guests to explore and immerse themselves in Univision’s upcoming programming in a hands-on way.

The main stage was backed by 70 feet of 2.9mm LED, staggered for backstage entrances. Other design touches leveraged the building’s industrial architecture – such as LED panels and video-reflecting mirrors surrounding the numerous structural columns. Content could be controlled to sync across all video screens in the space or to play different programming on various screens throughout the venue.
